Peach Tree Classroom Highlight

At St. Paul’s Episcopal Montessori School, our focus is to nourish mind, body, and spirit. In our classroom highlights this school year, guides will describe how mind, body, and spirit are mindfully put into their classroom teachings.

“In the Lower Elementary Montessori classroom, we use special materials that help children explore, discover, and think in new ways. For example, the use of bead chains to teach multiplication and the Test Tubes to teach division.

Many elementary lessons are designed for children to take part in hands-on activities that build coordination, balance and motor skills through movement and daily tasks. For example: Grammar, Word Study Boxes, and command cards.

Montessori education at this level values nurturing a child’s spirit by supporting their emotional well- being, social skills, and sense of purpose. This is done by encouraging independence, self-control, and social emotional learning. Activities like conflict resolution, mindfulness, building the child’s spirit, and a sense of belonging help to strengthen them.”
