The 2019 Science Fair was another fantastic affair, with over 30 projects ranging from research into flightless birds to the study of the physics of quicksand to experiments on plant growth. All Upper and Lower Elementary students participated, as well as some kindergartners.
Students had the opportunity to present their projects to a body of “experts” who asked questions about the students’ work, encouraged them to explain how they chose the project and why it was important to them. After the fair, the experts’ feedback on the projects was presented to the students to prepare them for an even better next year.
After presenting their projects, students also got to participate in a demonstration from the TMI Robotics Club! The club members talked students through the design and construction of a robot, as well as programming it to obey commands. Students were given the opportunity to use the robots’ controllers and see for themselves how the machines are programmed to work.
Thank you to our parents, teachers, staff, and community members who helped with projects, served as judges, and provided materials. The Science Fair is always one of our favorite events and it’s thanks to our volunteers that we can make it happen year after year!
We are especially grateful to Ms. Kate, who made beautiful medals for all of our participants again this year!
